Trumpeter Andy Hague is at the heart of the Bristol jazz scene, whether as mainman of the well-established Bebop Club, leader of a clutch of excellent bands – including Horace Silver tribute band Silverado, Latin combo Conjunto Gringo and his own Andy Hague Quintet and Big Band – or contributing trumpeter or drummer to Fatman Swings and many more. Though a noted composer of catchily melodic straightahead jazz tunes himself with several releases under his belt, the Double Standards quartet with George Cooper (piano), Dave Guy (bass) and Andy Tween (drums) mainly draws its repertoire from the great canon of classic modern jazz favourites.
