Shallow Roots is an eight piece band, playing dance music fusing Afro, Caribbean, Spanish, Latin, and Western pop. The band line up is three saxes, two guitars, bass, drums and vocals. Jonathan Hyams is principal songwriter and plays lead guitar with vocals. He originally set up the band with Rob Vasey who plays rhythm guitar with vocals. Rosalind Moreno-Parra sings in Spanish and English and features on many of our songs.  Romilly Gibbs, Jamie Darwen, and Carol Arnold play soprano, tenor, and alto saxophones adding riffs, harmonies, and solos. Jeremy Arnold plays drums and Toby Kohler plays bass guitar. The band recorded an EP ‘Dig Deep’ in 2025 which can be found on Spotify and most other music platforms.
