Melanie Wickham is a lino printer based in Bristol. Trained as an Illustrator she has been carving out lino plants, cats, spiders, buildings and beetles ever since.

Melanie’s printmaking is based on drawings – sketching regularly and trying to capture ideas and shapes which evolve into lino prints. The subject matter is largely nature based, plants and animals but in Melanie’s distinctive lino style.

The lino prints are hand burnished on the back of the paper with a Japanese boxwood burnishing tool to create a print – usually on Somerset Satin paper and in limited editions.   Melanie enjoys the challenge of translating a drawing into lino and also the physical process of hand burnishing to create the lino print.
