A Few Good Movies is a community film club in the Tobacco Factory Snug. Films will all end with an open and relaxed discussion.

St Elmo’s Fire is a coming-of-age drama co-written and directed by Joel Schumacher (A Time to Kill, The Lost Boys, Phonebooth, Batman Forever) and it might be the most 1980’s film you will ever see because it has it all – the fashion, the soundtrack, the drugs and one hell of a saxaphone scene!
It centres around a clique of recent college graduates from Georgetown University and their adjustment to post-grad life and the responsibilities of adulthood. Starring Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson and Ally Sheedy, St Elmo’s Fire feels like an unofficial sequel to The Breakfast Club (1985) and is often considered the height of the Brat Pack era movies.
Also starring Demi Moore, Andrew McCarthy, Rob Lowe, Mare Winningham and Andie MacDowell, the film promises flawed characters, yuppy charm and a backdrop of the 1980’s world that we are probably happy to have left behind.
