A Few Good Movies is a community film club in the Tobacco Factory Snug. Films will all end with an open and relaxed discussion.

Thirteen Ghosts (or Thir13en Ghosts as it has come to be known) is a supernatural horror about a widow (Tony Shaloub, Monk) and his children who inherit a strange, intricate glass house from their recently deceased Uncle Cyrus.

The house is actually a massive supernatural machine designed to contain vengeful ghosts and the family need to escape before the mechanism activates. Considered to be a box office disappointment upon release, the film has gained a cult following over the years and many have called for it to be made into a mini-series with an episode for each ghost and their backstory.

Even though we don’t have a tv show just yet, there is so much to enjoy in the film to keep you entertained – Matthew Lillard (Scream, Scooby Doo), Shannon Elizabeth (American Pie) and Embeth Davidtz (Matilda) make up a strong supporting cast, the house itself is beautifully crafted, and with director Steve Beck at the helm (visual effects director for The Abyss and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade) the visuals in this film are exciting and bold!

We are very excited to be rounding off our spooky season with this film and think you will have a great time with it!
