Jamie Rawlings (b.1991) is an appropriation artist using found postcards, portraits, cigarette cards and other ephemera. In this show we present some older works amongst his newest collection of (fittingly) tobacco cards available in 40’s and 50’s cigarette boxes. With his unique stye of adding pride colours to the otherwise forgotten faces, he gives the object he is working on a new life.
Modern and fresh, Jamie’s works have been recognised as one of the smartest and successful young practitioners in this field to emerge following the lead practitioners (Cockburn / Anzeri) working at high art level. His works are collectible and cute, while displaying a high level of craftsmanship.
