As the former lead singer and guitarist of the beloved band Trophy Wife, Jody’s pedigree is unquestionable. He also played a significant role in Jonquil and had a brief stint with math rock pioneers TTNG. During his university years, Jody explored post and math rock before achieving mainstream success with Trophy Wife. The band’s single “Microlite,” released on Moshi Moshi Records, became a hit, leading to extensive touring and high-profile festival appearances alongside acts like Bombay Bicycle Club, Foals, Two Door Cinema Club, No Age and a coveted slot opening for Ed Sheeran in Paris.
After this whirlwind of success, Jody took a step back from the music industry to focus on music education, a field he continues to work in today. However, his passion for creating music never waned. His recent album of nature-inspired guitar instrumentals, “Trails,” showcased his distinctive brand of cinematic folk and “River Songs” builds upon this foundation.
“River Songs” is set to captivate audiences with Jody’s inventive guitar playing, soulful vocals, and striking lyrical imagery. This album marks a return to his roots, celebrating the simplicity and purity of acoustic folk music while highlighting his evolution as an artist. Jody Prewett continues to carve out a unique path in the music world, and “River Songs” is a testament to his enduring talent and dedication to his craft.
