The 3 trumpets, 2 woodwinds, trombone and tuba combined with the “innovative arrangements and compositions” (Katie Derham, BBC Radio 3) provide a big, fresh sound that captures the imagination and stirs the soul.

In addition, the band features specially commissioned arrangements and compositions from highly-regarded jazz composers and arrangers including Callum Au, Tom Green and Steve Waterman.

An in-demand singer, Victoria Klewin is known for her extended range and finely-crafted tone, her voice has been described as ‘simultaneously sweet, soulful and slightly world-weary’ by BBC Radio Scotland. Victoria has toured internationally both with her own originals project and with Hannah William and the Affirmations.

Adam Stokes is an up-and-coming guitarist blending Jim Hall Style melodic development with Thelonious Monk’s angular dissonances, he is known on the Bristol scene as the host of the Stag and Hounds Jam session where he has played with the who’s who of Bristol Jazz.

Chris Jones (Orfic, Weareleif, Nurdle) is a first-call Bassist who has played across the UK from Theatre Pits to Pizza Express Soho, his blending of contemporary rhythmic ideas and guttural blues draws comparisons to the likes of Larry Grenadier and Charlie Haden.

Will is most in his element when playing the blues, and his deft guitar work fuses influences from the likes of George Benson, Robben Ford and BB King with a strong vocal and powerful live energy. His trio with long-time collaborators Miguel Andrews (dr) and Zak Ranyard (b) blends elements of jazz improv with heavy grooves and the sounds of the Delta to provide a tour-de-force of modern electric blues. The band are delighted to welcome masterful multi-instrumentalist Ruth Hammond to the festival stage as a special guest on keys.
